Getting to Know Lex Page
Meet MCF's new Donor Engagement Coordinator
In November, Lex joined MCF as our Donor Engagement Coordinator. He will primarily work with the Donor Engagement team to communicate with donors, welcome new fundholders and legacy society members, identify and encourage participation in events, and help plan events that celebrate philanthropy, such as Madison Gives and MCF’s Advisor Webinar series. He will also help facilitate meetings, schedule events, and manage projects for his team.
“I’m excited to work with people who have been giving back to their communities and enacting change through philanthropy and to help people who are just beginning their philanthropic journey identify how they want to make their unique impact. Although the greater Madison area is an amazing place to live and work in many regards, for many people, there is also a lot of potential for improvement and a need for more equitable and widely accessible support systems and resources,” Lex explained.
“I think MCF plays a vital role in ensuring that people interested in investing in positive change and community resources can do so, but none of this work is possible without donors, nonprofit leaders, employees, and volunteers, and community members engaging in advocacy.”
Lex graduated from the University of Virginia in May with a degree in English. While at UVA, he was involved in community outreach and student advocacy work for his residential college and LGBTQ+ student groups. Lex also worked in the library system and on a research project to identify opportunities for expanding university access for Native and Indigenous students and community members.
“I’m very grateful for those opportunities to see the direct impacts of my work on my peers and the institutions I worked within and alongside, as well as the opportunity to learn from my peers, mentors, and community members,” said Lex. “I love working with the people and organizations that make it their mission to sustain and improve their communities. There’s a lot of power in bringing people together and making them feel welcomed, included, and like they are a part of something bigger than themselves.”
Lex and his family moved to Madison from Arizona in 2018, and they now live in Cross Plains where Lex enjoys walking along the Ice Age Trail and Black Earth Creek. In his free time, he can often be found reading, writing, drawing, or playing storytelling games with friends. Lex also loves to cook, bake, and try new restaurants in the Madison area.
“The Madison library system is incredible, so I spend a lot of time hanging out in the libraries and engaging in their programming,” Lex commented. “I love going to open mics, author talks, art markets, concerts, and other literary and arts programming around the city, too. I also love the green spaces available in and around the city, and I enjoy spending time in Olbrich Botanical Gardens, hiking along the Ice Age Trail, and going out on the lakes in the summer with my family.”
