MCF Welcomes Becki Fiegel
Get to know Becki Fiegel, MCF's new Communications Director
What is your role at MCF? As the Communications Director, I get to tell the stories about the work we do at MCF, and the impact that donors working together can have on our communities. I also help shine a spotlight on how our grant recipients are enhancing the quality of life in Madison, and see first-hand the work of so many different types of organizations and how, when taken together, they really have an effect on the lives and well-being of the people in our communities.
Tell us a little about your background. I have a degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota, and have spent most of my career writing about finance and investing. I’ve spent a lot of time working with advisors to help people with tax and estate planning, succession planning for their family business, and developing a charitable giving plan for themselves and their families.
What excites you most about this role? I believe we all have a responsibility to work to the best of our abilities to help make the world a better place. I love Madison, but like any other place, it faces challenges. Being surrounded at MCF by people who are passionate about this community, and about addressing the issues it faces so that we can make it better for everyone – that’s exciting and inspiring.
What do you do when you’re not working? My husband and I have three children, a 15-year-old and twins who are almost 9, so we spend a lot of time at their activities – soccer games, swim meets, track and cross country meets, Cub Scout meetings, band concerts and other school activities. (I’m tired just thinking about it.) We also love camping and hiking in Wisconsin’s State Parks, going to the farmers’ market, and exploring the city.
