Starting A Community Impact Fund

Lincoln Elementary students learn outside the classroom in the school’s new Art in the Garden area.

Community Impact Funds are a popular option for donors that want to support the Madison community but do not wish to participate in the individual selection of charitable causes or organizations.

Our community’s strongest assets are the thriving nonprofits that strengthen and enhance the lives of the people they serve. When nonprofits thrive, everyone thrives. Annual distributions from your Community Impact fund will join Madison Community Foundation’s biannual grantmaking to support the nonprofit community each year. Designed to strengthen the Madison area’s greatest assets, these grants support children and youth, the elderly, community development, the environment, learning, arts and culture, and nonprofit capacity building in communities throughout Dane County.

Key Benefits of Starting a Community Impact Fund:

  • Community Impact Funds address current and future needs and opportunities within Dane County.
  • Community Impact funds can be named to recognize the donor(s), a family member, friend or organization. Or, you can select a name for the fund that ensures your anonymity.
  • MCF can accept contributions of many types of assets, including stock and real estate.
