Community Grants

Lodi Area Literacy Council received a LACE grant for tutoring materials, including picture dictionaries, workbooks and an iPad.

Lodi Area Community Endowment (LACE) began in 2009.

Through the generous support of donors, the LACE endowment has grown to more than $550,000.

The following organizations have been awarded funds:

2022

In 2022, LACE awarded a total of $17,200 in grants to eleven local organizations.

    • Bar Buddies: Bar Buddies provides safe rides to Lodi citizens on Thursday through Saturday evenings to ensure patrons have a safe ride available to keep the number of people driving under the influence to a minimum.
    • Blessings in a Backpack: This organization provides food on weekends for children in need.
    • City of Lodi Pickleball: Partnering with Lodi CREW to bring pickleball to a summer youth program and indoor winter pickleball to Lodi High School, with 70 adults currently participating.
    • Friends of the Residents of 700 Clark Street: “Friends” is an organization dedicated to providing support for the Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. Support will be used to recognize staff, volunteers, residents, and families during a Lodi Community Gratification Day at Divine.
    • Ice Age Nordic: The Ski Club has grown to over 60 participants and the grant will support the purchase of 5 new pairs of youth skis.
    • Lake Melvin Yacht Club: Created more than 15 years ago, the Lake Melvin Yacht Club is "neighbors helping neighbors in need." Located in the Village of Dane, the Yacht Club assists families in need in the school district of Lodi by helping pay for rent, fuel, electricity and other day-to-day needs.
    • Lodi Public Library: The Lodi Public Library is making improvements to their Program Room. This space is used for meetings, workshops, events and story time. The funding will be used toward a kitchenette in the Program Room and upgrades for the staff workroom.
    • Lodi Middle School: The middle school library is making upgrades to its' furniture and shelving to better support students.
    • Lodi Wrestling Club: This newly available club at Lodi High School is relocating to the middle school due to space constraints and need for lifting supplies.
    • Ouisconsing School of Collaboration: A public charter school in the School District of Lodi, serving 80 students in grades 3,4, and 5. The funding will support a Lemonade Stand for fundraising and community connection.
    • Reach Out Lodi: Reach Out Lodi provides a safe and welcoming community center where residents can gather and a community store that supports the individuals and families who struggle with their basic living needs. Funding was used to purchase additional card tables and tablet.

2021

In 2021, LACE awarded a total of $14,240 in grants to seven local organizations.

  • Bar Buddies: Bar Buddies provides safe rides to Lodi citizens on Thursday through Saturday evenings to ensure patrons have a safe ride available to keep the number of people driving under the influence to a minimum.
  • Blessings in a Backpack: This organization provides food on weekends for children in need.
  • Friends of the Residents of 700 Clark Street: “Friends” is an organization dedicated to providing support for the Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. Support will be used to recognize staff, volunteers, residents, and families during a Lodi Community Gratification Day at Divine.
  • Lake Melvin Yacht Club: Created more than 15 years ago, the Lake Melvin Yacht Club is "neighbors helping neighbors in need." Located in the Village of Dane, the Yacht Club assists families in need in the school district of Lodi by helping pay for rent, fuel, electricity and other day-to-day needs.
  • Lodi Area Cross Country Ski Club: The ski club promotes cross country skiing to the community and supports youth development programs and racing. Funds were used to help pay for equipment for junior skiers.
  • Lodi Public Library: The Lodi Public Library is making improvements to their Program Room. This space is used for meetings, workshops, events and story time. The funding will be used toward an IMAC workstation for the staff workroom.
  • Reach Out Lodi: Reach Out Lodi provides a safe and welcoming community center where residents can gather and a community store that supports the individuals and families who struggle with their basic living needs. Funding was used for a LCD projector, tables, chairs, and other kitchen items.

2020

In 2020, LACE awarded a total of $12,000 in grants to eight local organizations.

  • Bar Buddies: Bar Buddies provides safe rides to Lodi citizens on Thursday through Saturday evenings to ensure patrons have a safe ride available to keep the number of people driving under the influence to a minimum.
  • Boy Scouts, Glacier’s Edge Council: The Council serves Cub Scout Pack 355 and Boy Scout Troop 113 in Lodi. Funds were used for program costs associated with going virtual.
  • Lake Melvin Yacht Club: Created more than 15 years ago, the Lake Melvin Yacht Club is "neighbors helping neighbors in need." Located in the Village of Dane, the Yacht Club assists families in need in the school district of Lodi by helping pay for rent, fuel, electricity and other day-to-day needs.
  • Lodi Area Cross Country Ski Club: The ski club promotes cross country skiing to the community and supports youth development programs and racing. Funds were used to help pay for a warming shed.
  • Lodi Public Library: The Lodi Public Library is making improvements to their Program Room. This space is used for meetings, workshops, events and story time. The funding will be used for vault renovation.
  • Lodi School District: The school district built a new synthetic turf, multi-playing surface stadium to benefit youth who play soccer, football, band members, and cheerleaders.
  • Prairie Valley Resale Store: Created 11 years ago, the Prairie Valley Resale Store is making the world a better place for individuals and families in need. Funding was used to provide assistance to families in need.
  • Reach Out Lodi: Reach Out Lodi provides a safe and welcoming community center where residents can gather and a community store that supports the individuals and families who struggle with their basic living needs. Funding was used to construct an addition to the existing building to provide food, clothing, personal essentials, and storage.

2019

In 2019, LACE awarded a total of $10,000 in grants to five local organizations. Funding ranged from $1,749 to $3,000.

  • Lake Melvin Yacht Club  Created more than 15 years ago, the Lake Melvin Yacht Club is "neighbors helping neighbors in need." Located in the Village of Dane, the Yacht Club assists families in need in the school district of Lodi by helping pay for rent, fuel, electricity and other day-to-day needs. 
  • Lodi Parent Teacher Organization  The Lodi PTO has partnered with the School District of Lodi to develop engaging natural playgrounds at the new Lodi Primary School that are educational and accessible for the community and visitors to the school. Funding will be used to provide handicap accessible ramps for the playground. 
  • Lodi Public Library The Lodi Public Library is making improvements to their Program Room. This space is used for meetings, workshops, events and story time. The funding will be used to purchase a sound system. 
  • School District of Lodi The School District is building a new greenhouse with a goal of creating a Farm to Table school lunch program and to provide opportunities for special education, STEAM, CREW and science programs. The funding will be used to help pay for a watering system. 
  • Reach Out Lodi  Reach Out Lodi provides a safe and welcoming community center where residents can gather and a community store that supports the individuals and families who struggle with their basic living needs. Funding will be used to supply for at the Community Store. 

2018

LACE awarded a total of $8,900 in grants to nine local organizations. Funding ranged from $500 to $1,950.

  • Blessings in a Backpack The Lodi chapter of Blessings in a Backpack seeks to provide students in need with nutritional food on weekends to improve their health and wellness, and to show the children the community cares about them. 
  • Bar Buddies  Bar Buddies provides safe rides to Lodi citizens on Thursday through Saturday evenings to ensure patrons have a safe ride available to keep the number of people driving under the influence to a minumum. 
  • City of Lodi  The City of Lodi was seeking funds to refurbish its existing WELCOME signs and to install a fourth sign to welcome residents, ourists and area vistors as they enter the city limits. 
  • Lodi Good Samaritan Society  The Lodi Good Samaritan Society has been serving residents for 49 years, and is in the processof obtaining new activities, games and equipment for residents. 
  • Ice Age Trail Alliance  The Summer Saunters program sponsored by the Ice Age Trail Alliance engages youth in the culture of wellness through vigorous exercise and exploration of the natural world. Students build navagation skills, study nonfiction reading materials and apply basic math and science skills within the environment.

  • Friends of MacKenzie Center  The Friends of MacKenzie Education Center is updating 34-year-old enclosures in its wildlife display area. Phase One of the project will update and expand the habitat for wolves, coyotes, foxes and whitetail deer. 

2017

  • Lodi Elementary School - Assisted with support for the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports project.
  • Ouisconsing School of Collaboration - Technology, professional development, and field studies purchases.
  • Reach Out Lodi - Assisted with heating and cooling equipment needs.
  • Lodi Valley Chamber of the Ice Age Trail Alliance - Funding for “Art on the Trail” program.

2016

  • City of Lodi Police Department - Community event, “Cops & Bobbers”
  • Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley - Merrimac Ferry Wayside accessible fishing pier project.
  • Ice Age Trail Alliance - Youth programming for the Summer Saunters program
  • Lodi Area Cross Country Ski Club - Equipment for junior ski team, trail signage and shelter.
  • Lodi Area Fire Department - Alert pager equipment.
  • Lodi Athletic Booster Club - Gym wall padding at the high school.
  • Maynard Schulgen Lodi American Legion Post - Purchase of two flag poles for the Wisconsin State and POW flags
  • Reach Out Lodi - Purchase of food, personal essential and school supplies

2015

  • Lodi Area Literacy Council - Materials for tutoring including picture dictionaries, workbooks and an iPad

2014

  • Ice Age Trail Alliance - Assisted youth programming for the Summer Saunters Program
  • Dane American Legion Post 503 - Materials to build a Veterans Memorial in Dane
  • Maynard Schulgen Legion Post 216 - Repairs and upgrade of Memorial Hall

2013

  • Lodi Area EMS - Purchased back-rafts which are placed between patient and the spinal immobilization board.
  • Friends of Lodi Pool - Funded toward construction of new Lodi pool

2012

  • Lodi Area Fire Department - Protective turnout gear
  • Lodi Elementary School: Summer Saunters Program - This program was designed to provide students with exposure to nature while encouraging physical activity.
  • City of Lodi - Spring Creek Walkway improvements were made to help beautify the walkway.
  • Lodi Public Library - Provided the community with updated literature regarding drug abuse.
  • Lodi Elementary School - Assisted in the purchase of iPads.
The Ice Age Nordic Ski Club was very excited to receive a LACE grant for $1000. We have a limited ability to raise funds for our local ski trails. We were able to use the grant for our youth and adult ski programs as well as trail improvement.”
