Columbus Area Endowment

The Columbus Area Endowment (CAE) provides donors the opportunity to create an enduring difference in the greater Columbus area through grants to local nonprofit organizations.

Established in 2008 by a volunteer group of Columbus area citizens, CAE enhances the cultural, educational and economic vitality of our community by supporting the well-being and quality of life of all our residents.

Why Give to CAE?

Thanks to a grant from CAE to Columbus High School, the Music/Theatre Department upgraded its sound system to improve the sound quality of its performances, including the 2016 production of “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
  • CAE partners with Madison Community Foundation, a 501c(3) tax-exempt charity, to maximize security and earnings and to minimize administrative costs.
  • Gifts may be made in cash, securities, real estate, life insurance, and retirement funds. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
  • The funds are invested for long-term growth. The principal is preserved while a percentage of the value of the endowment is available annually for Columbus area nonprofit projects and programs.
  • CAE provides a simple way to fulfill multiple charitable interests.
  • Additional endowments can be created within CAE to benefit specific charitable groups, such as churches, schools and parks.
  • Individuals may also set up donor-advised funds to support CAE and other Columbus-area causes, providing families an opportunity to build a legacy that will serve their community for generations to come.
